More Names in Hawaii – Ikalka, Kalani, Pilaku, Muliufi

A spotted a few Hawai’ian names in yesterday’s Honolulu Star Bulletin:

Ikalka
Kalani
Kealoha
Nalea
Pikai
Pilaku

I also discovered that Honolulu’s half-Samoan, half-German mayor is named Muliufi Hannemann. He’s referred to as “Mayor Mufi” in the paper.

I used to teach elementary school in Waimanalo on the windward side of Oahu. Just thought you would find it interesting that one of the “in” names in 2004 was Abcde (prounounced ab-sa-dee).

I’ve heard of that name before, but haven’t yet met anyone who’s seen it used in real life. Thanks!
