Baby Name Needed – Middle Name for Melody

A reader named Ashley is searching for a middle name:

I love the first name Melody for a girl, however, I’m extremely picky and can’t find a middle name! Last name starts with N and is one syllable, and I don’t want to give her a middle name that starts with A or E and have her initials be MAN or MEN. I also do not want a name that could be abbreviated as Katie.

Ashley didn’t mention that she was going for any specific style of name, so I tried for a broad range:

Brielle
Carmel
Celeste
Frida
Grace
Isabelle
Julia
Kara
Kendall
Larissa
Laurel
Maya
Nicole
Odette
Piper
Raquel
Rebecca
Reese
Ruth
Sara
Shea
Skylar
Tess/Tessa
Thea

Do you like any of these with Melody? What other middle names would you suggest?

  1. I worked with a lady whose name was Melody Denise. However the double D sound may not click with some.

To me, Melody is a fanciful even hippy kind of name, So I would match it with something a bit more staid or classic.

    Cynthia, Lynn, Marie,

I also like Tess, Isabelle, Grace, and Ruth.

  2. My first impulse was Melody Jane and I have to say Melody Ruth is gorgeous!!
    I also like:
Brooke, Colette, Danae, Diane, Gwen, Louise, Seline, Simone

  3. I think Melody Grace is a gorgeous name. If you want a name that could bea boy’s or a girl’s, Melody Aaron or Erin is nice. Melody Celeste is lovely because it makes me think of celestial angels singing. In that case, Melody Angel is also nice. Musically, Melody Harmony is okay. Here are some more: Shua, Lydia, Jennifer, brittney, Tessa, Keeley, Madilyn, Katherine!

  4. I have a Melodie Victoria who is nearly 6 years old. My best friend has a sister who is now in her 20’s and has the name Melody.

  5. My daughters name is Melody Jane. Initials MJM. Her daddy is a musician and had her first name picked out before we were even pregnant! I got to pick the middle name, I think it sounds beautiful paired with “Jane”. I love our daughters name, however my first choice was Marilyn Jane, both are elegant and classy sounding.
