Want to Name a Giant Panda Cub?

The San Diego Zoo’s newest panda cub needs a name. The male panda was born on August 5, and the five finalist names (narrowed down from field of over 6,300 suggested names) are:

  • Fu Sheng, meaning “blissful San Diego”
  • Xiao Long, meaning “little dragon”
  • Xiong Wei, meaning “extraordinary bear”
  • Yong Xiang, meaning “eternally blessed”
  • Yun Zi, meaning “son of cloud”

Voting ends tomorrow, so hop on over and cast a vote. The name will be announced during a naming ceremony at the Zoo on November 17.

(The panda cub born at the San Diego Zoo two years ago was named Zhen Zhen, which means “precious.”)
