Baby Names from Family Heirlooms
Is there an heirloom in your family? (Your great-grandfather’s steamer trunk? A 200-year-old Bible? Your grandmother’s hope chest? A Civil War weapon? A turn-of-the-century jigsaw puzzle?) If so, and if the item has special meaning to you, try squeezing some names out of it.
If it was handmade, who crafted it? If not, what company manufactured it? (Is there a label?) Where was it purchased? Who was the first person in your family to acquire it? What other relatives have kept it and passed it along? Are there any stories behind it? (If you don’t know, ask!)
