If you were having a son, and you had to name him either Evan or Ethan, which would it be? Why?

Funny, I like both Ivan and Ian but neither Evan nor Ethan.
Ethan
I picked Evan, but only because it’s a variant of John and therefore in a really round-about way a family name. I really don’t like either name.
Evan. I prefer the short-e sound of Evan to the long-e sound of Ethan.
I like Evan because I like Evan Lysacek and because I think it’s kind of clever (I don’t know why) but I don’t like Evan because of this disgusting classmate of mine in 6th grade… my opinion to whether I like it or not balanced…
I like Ethan because I like the sound of it.
Evan, I guess….
I’m with Anya with negative examples of Evans (I taught a few, went to school with a few). I don’t really like either name, though. My brother is Ian and I’d probably go with that (as a middle name) before either of these.
ETHAN– Evan is heading into girl territory, unfortunately…
With my last name, that would constitute cruelty to children to use either. Otherwise, I like the long-E of Ethan better.
