Bogus Baby Names at BabyCenter.com

Here’s something disturbing. The folks over at BabyCenter.com think Gollum is a baby name.

You may recall that Gollum is the wretched, ring-obsessed creature invented by J.R.R. Tolkien and featured recently in the Lord of the Rings films. Here’s a visual:

A post over at Cute Sexy Funny Awful clued me in to the fact that Frodo is in BabyCenter.com’s baby name database. The Frodo entry includes a direct link to the Gollum entry.

In case you were wondering, Gollum’s name is onomatopoeia. It represents the strange noise he makes when he swallows. Lovely, no?

And Gollum isn’t the only questionable entry in the BabyCenter.com database. I found dozens of others, including D-Money, G-Love, M-Dog and X-Man.
