Iona What?

I found this in an Indiana newspaper published in late 1895:

Invitations for the marriage of Sherman Trout and Miss Iona Shaver are out. The ceremony will occur at the home of the bride east of town.

First “Iona Shaver,” then “Iona Trout.” Wow. :)

Iona is one of those names you really have to be careful with, because it forms phrases so readily. (Anita and Uneeda, too.)
