Adam Levine, Maroon 5 vocalist and The Voice judge, got engaged to Namibian model Behati Prinsloo in mid-2013. I don’t know much about Levine, and I know even less about Prinsloo, but the name “Behati” is really intriguing.
In this video, she pronounces her name “bee-AH-tee” and mentions that Americans tend to mispronounce it “buh-HOT-ee.”
A Behind the Names user says Behati is probably an Afrikaans variant of Beata or Beate, both of which come from the Latin word beatus, meaning “blessed.” According to Wikipedia, Behati’s father is a minister, so a name that means “blessed” certainly makes sense.
Do you like the name Behati?
