Popular Boat Names, 2013

The graphics department of the Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatU.S.) creates custom boat lettering for thousands of boats every year. In 2013, these were the ten most-requested boat names:

  1. Serenity
  2. Second Wind
  3. Island Girl
  4. Freedom
  5. Pura-Vida
  6. Andiamo (an Italian expression meaning “let’s go!”)
  7. Island Time
  8. Irish Wake
  9. Happy Hours
  10. Seas the Day

BoatU.S. has been putting out lists of popular boat names since 1991.

If you had a boat, what would you name it?

  1. My parent’s friends had a boat called “My Offish” which as a seven year old I considered the MOST BRILLIANT boat name ever :-)

If I had a boat I think I’d call her Dorothy Lee after my grandma! Isn’t it good luck or something to use a woman’s name for a boat?

  2. Love the idea of naming a boat for grandma! (She’s got an adorable name, too.)

I’m not sure if it’s good luck, or just traditional…maybe a bit of both? Not sure.
