Five-name Friday: Girl name that starts with A

As the cashier rings up your sizable Halloween candy purchase — candy corns, Tootsie Rolls, Smarties, etc. — you idly observe that most of the stuff you’re buying just isn’t very tasty. She agrees, but concedes with a smile that this year, since she’s pregnant, she’s happy to eat whatever sub-par Halloween candy comes her way — even if it’s black jelly beans. Besides, maybe the extra sugar will give her the energy she needs to continue her seemingly endless baby name search:

Looking for a girl name that starts with A and contains the letters R and S. Would like it to be uncommon and have 4-6 letters.

“Do you have any suggestions?”

You’re a name-lover, and you could potentially give her dozens of suggestions. But a line has formed behind you, so you only have time to give her five baby name suggestions before stepping out of the way.

But here’s the fun part: Instead of blurting out the first five names you come up with, you get to press a magical “pause” button, brainstorm for a bit, and then “unpause” the scenario to offer her the best five names you can think of.

Here are a few things to keep in mind as you brainstorm:

  • Be independent. Decide on your five names before looking at anyone else’s five names.
  • Be sincere. Would you honestly suggest these particular baby names out loud to a stranger at the store?
  • Five names only! All names beyond the first five in your comment will be either deleted or replaced with nonsense words.

Finally, here’s the request again:

Looking for a girl name that starts with A and contains the letters R and S. Would like it to be uncommon and have 4-6 letters.

Which five baby names are you going to suggest?
