According to Michigan’s Department of Health & Human Services, the most popular baby names in the state in 2016 were Ava and Noah.

Here are Michigan’s top 10 girl names and top 10 boy names of 2016:

Girl names

1. Ava, 584 baby girls
2. Olivia, 557
3. Emma, 539
4. Charlotte, 468
5. Sophia, 395
6. Harper, 394
7. Amelia, 390
8. Evelyn, 380
9. Isabella, 340
10. Abigail, 309

Boy names

1. Noah, 514 baby boys
2. Mason, 498
3. Benjamin, 482
4. Liam, 464
5. Elijah, 452
6. Carter, 450
7. Oliver, 435
8. Lucas, 426
9. James, 417
10. Owen, 389

In the boys’ top 10, Oliver and James replaced Jacob (now 11th) and Jackson (now tied for 14th with William).

In 2015, the top two names were Olivia and Noah.
