I grew up on a boat…which my parents were kind enough not to name me after (it a converted WWII navy launch named SNAFU). But they did want to name me something nautical, which is why my name is Gale, after a storm on the sea (not a shortened form of Abigail).
They joked that it was either that or “May Day.”
What a cool childhood you must have had, Gale! Thanks for sharing that story, I love that your name is a nod to that unique experience.
