Numerology: Baby names with a value of 7

Baby names with a numerological value of 7

If you’re on the hunt for baby names with a numerological value of 7, you’re in luck! Because today’s post features hundreds of 7-names.

Before we get to the names, though — how do we know that they’re “sevens” in numerology?

Turning names into numbers

Here’s how to calculate the numerological value of a name.

First, for each letter, come up with a number to represent that letter’s position in the alphabet. (Letter A would be number 1, letter B would be number 2, and so forth.) Then, add all the numbers together. If the sum has two or more digits, add the digits together recursively until the result is a single digit. That single digit is the name’s numerological value.

For instance, the letters in the name Victoria correspond to the numbers 22, 9, 3, 20, 15, 18, 9, and 1. The sum of these numbers is 97. The digits of 97 added together equal 16, and the digits of 16 added together equal 7 — the numerological value of Victoria.

Number 7: Significance and associations

What does the number seven mean in numerology?

There’s no definitive answer, unfortunately, because various numerological systems exist, and each one has its own interpretation of the number seven. That said, if we look at a couple of modern numerology/astrology websites, we see 7 being described as “truth-seeking,” “introspective,” “intellectual,” “reserved,” and “unusual.”

We can also look at associations, which are a bit more concrete. Here are some things that are associated with the number 7:

  • Rainbow (7 colors)
  • Continents
  • Week (7 days)
  • Major scale in music (7 notes)
  • Seven Wonders of the World
  • Pleiades (7 sister-nymphs of Greek mythology)
  • Classical planets (sun, moon, Venus, Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, Saturn)
  • Metals of antiquity (gold, silver, copper, tin, lead, iron, mercury)

What does the number 7 mean to you? What are your strongest associations with the number?

Popular baby names in Newfoundland and Labrador (Canada), 2016

According to preliminary data released on January 6th by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, the most popular baby names in 2016 were Emma and Jackson (and variants).

Here are the province’s projected top 10 girl names and top 10 boy names of 2016:

Girl Names
1. Emma
2. Avary/Avery
3. Charlotte
4. Olivia
5. Addison/Addyson
6. Scarlett
7. Abbigail/Abigail/Abigale
8. Anna
9. Cali/Callie/Kali/Kallee/Kallie
10. Emilee/Emily

Boy Names
1. Jackson/Jaxen/Jaxon/Jaxson/Jaxxen/Jaxxon
2. Liam
3. Benjamin
4. Jack
5. James
6. Mason
7. Grayson/Greyson
8. Jacob
9. Noah
10. Isaac/Isac/Issac

The #1 names are the same as in 2015. (I forgot to post the 2015 rankings last year, but here are the 2014 rankings.)

In the girls’ top 10, the Addison-group, Scarlett, the Abigail-group, the Callie-group, and the Emily-group replaced the Sophia-group, the Lily-group, the Mia-group, the Ava-group, and the Chloe-group.

In the boys’ top 10, Mason, the Greyson-group, and the Isaac-group replaced Parker, the Nathan-group, and Carter.

Most of the pronunciation groupings on N.L.’s full top 100 made sense, but here are two I wasn’t so sure about:

  • In 21st place on the girls’ list was “Lea/Leah/Leia/Leiyah/Lia/Leya,” which mixes LEE-uh and LAY-uh names.
  • In 63rd place on the girls’ list was “Raya/Rayah/Rhea,” which mixes RAY-uh and REE-uh names.

Sophia tops Emily: Adjusting the most popular U.S. baby names

The Social Security Administration doesn’t combine spelling variations when compiling its annual list of popular baby names. Though this is probably the most logical way for them to present their data, it tends to skew the overall picture a bit.

For instance, according to the SSA, the top ten girl names in 2007 were Emily, Isabella, Emma, Ava, Madison, Sophia, Olivia, Abigail, Hannah and Elizabeth (in that order). If we account for spelling variations, though, the top ten is more like:

1stSophia (16,804)
Sofia (5,974)
22,778 (1.0930%)
2ndEmily (19,105)
Emely (1,011)
Emilee (782)
Emilie (507)
Emmalee (368)

Madisyn (843)
20,326 (0.9754%)
5thOlivia (16,329)
Alivia (1,628)
Alyvia (276)

6thEmma (18,127)18,127 (0.8698%)
7thAva (17,865)17,865 (0.8572%)

Addyson (1,368)
Addisyn (488)
Adyson (455)
Adison (395)
14,529 (0.6971%)

And this doesn’t account for several things:

  • Eva could be seen as a form of Ava. That would bring Ava/Eva up to 4th place.
  • Hailey, the 23rd most popular girl name, can also be spelled Hailee, Hailie, Haylee, Hayley, Haylie and Hayleigh. If you throw in Haley and Haleigh as well, that brings the entire name group up to 8th place. (I tend to pronounce these last two more like Halle/Hallie, though, so I didn’t do it that way.)
