I finished The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger the other night. About a third of the way into Part 2, a couple of the main characters have a discussion about baby names. The conversation goes on for several pages.
After reading the scene, I tried to come up with other books featuring long baby name discussions and/or descriptions. The only books I could think of were Jhumpa Lahiri’s The Namesake and John Irving’s The World According to Garp.
A Twitter friend told me there’s some baby name talk in Irving’s The Cider House Rules, and I’d assume that Stephenie Meyer’s Breaking Dawn includes a discussion or two about Renesmee, but I haven’t read either of these so I don’t know for sure.
Can you think of any other books with baby-naming scenes?
