Former POW Jessica Lynch gave birth to a baby girl named Dakota Ann on Friday, January 19.
Dakota’s middle name was chosen in honor of Army Specialist Lori Ann Piestewa (1979-2003), who Lynch served with in the 507th Maintenance Company.
When the unit was ambushed in March of 2003, Piestewa died and Lynch was captured. Piestewa was the first woman killed in combat in Iraq.
