The unusual name Kexin first appeared in the U.S. baby name data in 2009:
- 2011: unlisted
- 2010: unlisted
- 2009: 5 baby girls named Kexin [debut]
- 2008: unlisted
- 2007: unlisted
Why?
My guess is the Olympics.
Kexin is the first name of Chinese gymnast He Kexin, who won two gold medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing (even though she may have been too young to compete at the time).
According to one gymnastics website, her name is pronounced kuh-SHEEN.
