Rhode Island quadruplets: Sofía, Philomena, Veronica, Isabel

kinderfest

In January of 2025, Rhode Island couple Rachel and Marco Vargas (and their two young children) welcomed quadruplets into the family.

The four identical baby girls were born at about 30 weeks’ gestation and weighed roughly 3 pounds each.

What were they named?

Sofía, Philomena, Veronica, and Isabel.

What are your thoughts on these names?

(And, which set of girl names — this one, or the one given to the Louisiana quads born a few months ago — do you prefer? Why?)

  1. These quads are a million percent better in the name department than the other set. Veronica is the only name here that I personally love (although I would like Isabel more if Isabella had not been so dominant in the 21st century so far). But the other names are beautiful and classy, too, even though they aren’t my favorites.

Identical quadruplets, wow. That’s amazing. I bet it’s very rare. It seems like most multiples these days come from IVF and are fraternal. Best wishes to the family.

  2. At least this set has girl names. I do really like Lyric, can accept Paisley, but the other two are awful. I do like how each set was given non-themed distinct names. I have to wonder, for this set, how quickly nicknames will be used, as these names are a little long. For this set, I like Veronica, but Philomena just seems too long. Sofia & Isabel are pretty and nice, but over-used by now. Certainly special, though, being identical!

  3. I’d have gone with four syllables for all the names — Veronica, Esmeralda, Anastasia, Isadora.

  4. I prefer the Vargas quads’ names. The couple have a three-year-old son and a one-year-old daughter — I would love to know their names, especially the daughter.
