Biggest changes in girl name popularity, 2010

For the last few years, the SSA has re-ordered the top 500 (or so) baby names according to rank change.

I decided to do the same sort of analysis, but change two things. First, I focused on the number of babies instead of on rankings. Second, I looked at the entire list, not just the top 500.

Needless to say, these lists and the SSA’s lists look pretty different. :)

The girl names that increased and decreased the most in terms of usage are below. The boy names will be in the next post.

In late 1966, Jim and Eldora Parnell of Bakersfield, California, welcomed their 20th child.

But when Logan was born, Dr. Logan was out of town and another doctor delivered him.”

Popular baby names in Canberra/ACT (Australia), 2011

And on the heels of Queensland we have Canberra. Well, the entire Australian Capital Territory, actually.

So far this year there have been 5,241 births in the ACT, and these are the most popular baby names:

Update: I’ve revised this post with the finalized top 10! Isabella was kicked off the girls’ list by Ava, and Liam was kicked off the boys’ list by Ethan.

Popular baby names in Queensland (Australia), 2011

There may be about a dozen days left in the year, but that hasn’t stopped Queensland, Australia, from releasing its list of the most popular baby names of 2011:
