Where did it come from?
The short-lived R&B group K.P. & Envyi. The duo was essentially two solo artists — rapper Kia Philips and singer Susan Hedgepeth — who were paired up by their label to record the song “Swing My Way” for the compilation album Rhythm & Quad 166 Vol 1 (1998).
The song, “a perfect example of late-’90s Southern-style crossover,” was released as a single in late 1997. It peaked at #6 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart and at #5 on the Hot R&B Singles chart in March of 1998.
