I’m Nancy Man, the researcher behind Nancy’s Baby Names.
I’m based in the U.S. and have been writing about names online for nearly two decades, though my interest in names goes all the way back to childhood.
Mission
My main goal right now? To find and write about every U.S. baby name that has ever been influenced by history (i.e., that has ever seen a sudden change in usage — typically an increase in usage — corresponding to a particular historical event). It’s an impossible task, but I’m going to try anyway. :)
History
I started Nancy’s Baby Names on a whim in March of 2006. At first, it was simply a blog. A few years later, in 2010, I added a directory of girl names and boy names featuring popularity graphs and data tables. More recently, in 2019, I added a timeline (which is currently being upgraded!).
