Above is Norman Rockwell’s painting “Tattoo Artist,” which appeared on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post on March 4, 1944.

The names that have been tattooed on the sailor’s arm are: Sadie, Rosietta, Ming Fu, Mimi, Olga, Sing Lee, and Betty.
