According to data from the Wyoming Department of Health, the most popular baby names in the state in 2014 were Olivia and Liam.
Here are Wyoming’s top 5 girl names and top 5 boy names of 2014:
Girl Names | Boy Names |
---|---|
1. Olivia 2. Emma 3. Brooklyn 4. Abigail 5. Harper | 1. Liam 2. Jackson/William (tie) 3. Wyatt 4. James 5. Benjamin/Logan/Mason (tie) |
Last year’s #1 girl name, Sophia, was pushed out of the top 5 entirely. (It remained in the top 10, though.)
Here are the 2013, 2012 and 2011 rankings for Wyoming.

In the Netherlands, too, Liam is hot!

As a Californian, my mind is boggled by the fact that a state can have so few babies that there is a tie for #2 and a THREE-WAY tie for #5. There are some differences between this data and the SS list for Wyoming, but it’s probably just a matter of one or two babies not getting their SS numbers!
@Pernille – Liam is all over the place these days! Thanks for the link.
@Diane – I know it. Low-population places are fun to keep an eye on for this very reason, I think — just a handful of babies (sometimes just one!) can really shake things up.
