Popular baby names in Tennessee, 2017

According to Tennessee’s Office of Vital Records, the most popular baby names in the state in 2017 were Ava and William.

Here are Tennessee’s top 10 girl names and top 10 boy names of 2017:

7. Elizabeth
8. Charlotte
9. Ella
10. Abigail

Boy names

1. William
2. Elijah
3. James
4. Noah
5. Liam
6. John
7. Mason
8. Jackson
9. Samuel
10. Grayson

In the boys’ top 10, Samuel and Grayson replaced Michael, Benjamin, Aiden, Jacob and Carter (there were extra names on the previous list due to ties).

These rankings are based on provisional data.

In 2016, the top two names were Emma and William.
