According to New York City’s Department of Health, the most popular baby names in the city in 2020 were Emma and Liam.

Here are New York City’s top 10 girl names and top 10 boy names of 2020:

Girl Names

1. Emma (442 baby girls)
2. Sophia

4. Olivia
5. Isabella
6. Ava
7. Leah
8. Sarah
9. Chloe
10. Amelia

Boy Names

1. Liam (682 baby boys)
2. Noah
3. Jacob
4. Ethan
5. Lucas
6. Joseph
7. David
8. Aiden
9. Alexander
10. Daniel

In the girls’ top 10, Sarah replaced Charlotte.

In the boys’ top 10, Joseph and Alexander replaced Michael and Matthew.

In 2019, the top two names were also Emma and Liam.
