What were the most popular names among these babies? Emma and Liam (for the sixth year in a row!) according to data from New York City’s Department of Health.
Here are NYC’s top 10 girl names and top 10 boy names of 2022:
Girl names
- Emma, given to nearly 400 baby girls
- Mia
- Olivia
- Sophia
- Leah
- Ava
- Esther
- Isabella
- Luna
- Amelia
Boy names
- Liam, given to more than 700 baby boys
- Noah
- Ethan
- Lucas
- David
- Jacob
- Aiden
- Joseph
- Daniel
- Alexander
In the girls’ top 10, Esther replaced Sofia. (That said, “it’s worth noting that if Sofia and Sophia were counted as a single name, it would be number one.”)
In the boys’ top 10, Alexander replaced Benjamin.
