We got a sneak preview of the rise of Lainey in the Wyoming rankings a couple of days ago! Lainey has no doubt been influenced by country singer Lainey Wilson.
And the SSA’s press release mentioned that TikToker Kaeli McEwen is likely behind the sudden interest in Kaeli.
If you can explain any of the other rises, please leave a comment!
Update, 3:15pm (MST): I’m working on the debut name posts right now, and just noticed that one of highest-debuting girl names last year was the Eluney-like Aluney (with 21 baby girls).

If only I knew Spanish — a lot of these names are popular in the Latinx communities of the U.S. I know the soccer player Lionel Messi’s new wife’s name is Antonela Roccuzzo, so perhaps that’s why Antonella shot up. (And also because I think Nelly/Nellie and Nell are becoming more popular, but people like to have a “real” name to go with it.)
The single-L version (Antonela) rose last year as well, though not as much as the double-L version. Regardless, any theory associated with Messi is worth looking into — thank you for the idea!
