What were the most popular names among these babies? Charlotte and Liam, according to the Virginia Department of Health’s Office of Vital Records.

The state also revealed the top names within each of its four largest ethnic groups: White, Black, Hispanic and Asian. (According to the most recent CDC data, 53.1% of Virginia’s babies were born to non-Hispanic White mothers, 19.0% to Black mothers, 17.5% to Hispanic mothers, and 7.4% to Asian mothers.)

Don’t love the lists of names broken out by ethnic groups (what ever happened to mixed people, Hispanic people can be Black, Asian, or white, etc)…but the data is slightly interesting. Matteo with two Ts ranking third for Hispanic families must be a typo though.
Virginia is on track to elect the first female governor in state history this year as women got the nomination from both major parties. It will be interesting to see if either Abigail or Winsome see a bump in usage in Virginia in the next couple of years.
