Originally, the wild things were nameless. Maurice Sendak, author of Where the Wild Things Are (1963), told Newsweek he “never wanted them to have names.”
But in the movie, the wild things are called Alexander, Carol (male), Douglas, Ira and Judith. The names were chosen by director Spike Jonze and screenwriter Dave Eggers.
