Baby born on TAM flight, named Tami

On February 14, 2010, a Bolivian woman named Lourdes Mamani gave birth to a baby girl aboard a TAM flight several minutes before it touched down in La Paz.

What’s TAM? It’s the military airline (Transporte Aéreo Militar) run by the Bolivian air force (Fuerza Aérea Boliviana, or FAB).

In honor of TAM and the FAB, Lourdes named her daughter Tami Fabiola.

About a week after Tami Fabiola was born, she was baptized aboard the very same plane. (It was on the ground this time.) The chief of the air force was chosen as godfather.

The FAB will be giving Tami Fabiola an educational scholarship and free tickets for travel around Bolivia until she turns 21.
