According to the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages, the most popular baby names in New South Wales, Australia, in 2014 were Oliver and Olivia.

Here are NSW’s top 10 girl names and top 10 boy names of 2014:

Girl Names

  1. Olivia, 630 baby girls
  2. Mia, 525
  3. Charlotte, 516
  4. Amelia, 492
  5. Ava, 479
  6. Emily, 435
  7. Chloe, 424
  8. Ruby, 405
  9. Isabella, 395
  10. Sophie, 391

Boy Names

  1. Oliver, 657 baby boys
  2. William, 621
  3. Noah, 544
  4. Jack, 531
  5. James, 472
  6. Lucas, 468
  7. Thomas, 458
  8. Alexander, 439
  9. Ethan, 413
  10. Liam, 406

Last year, the top two names were Charlotte and William.

In the boys’ top 10, Alexander in Ethan replaced Lachlan and Cooper.

The girls’ top 10 contains the same names as last year, but in a different order. Ruby, the #1 name in 2012, dropped to 10th in 2013 but rebounded slightly to 8th in 2014.
