Here are the county’s projected top 5 girl names and top 5 boy names of 2025:

  1. Ailin – derived from the Kazakh word ai, meaning “moon.”
  2. Asylym – derived from the Kazakh word asyl, meaning “precious.”
  3. Medina
  4. Aisha
  5. Tomiris – a form of Tomyris, the name of a legendary queen.

Boy names, 2025

  1. Mukhammad
  2. Alikhan
  3. Aisultan
  4. Omar
  5. Aldiyar

And what were the No. 1 names within each of Kazakhstan’s two largest minority groups? Among Russians, who make up more than 14% of the population, the top picks were Eva and Miron. Among Uzbeks, who make up more than 3% of the population, the winners were Khadicha and Muhammad.
