I know a Tenley was on a past season of the Bachelor TV show. Maybe Tynlee has become a popular respelling of her name? That was my first thought.
Besides being a surname, Azula (#73) is the name of a character on the television series Avatar: the Last Airbender, which aired 2005-2008.
I’m kind of suprised about Emmelina being on this list.
I’m going to guess…
– Anberlyn is inspired by the band Anberlin
– Koraline was inspired by the movie/novella Coraline
– Malillany came from telenovela actress Malillany Marín
– Winry is from the manga/anime character Winry Rockbell
– Tynlee, Tensley, Tenli, and Tynleigh were inspired by Tenley Molzahn (as Brandy suggested)
– Fatimazahra is after Fatimah Zahra, daughter of Islamic prophet Mohammed
What’s with Peyson, Paisyn, Paycen, Paesyn?
I worry about the child named Phallyn. Yikes!
Payson is a female character in Make It Or Break It
This is late in the game, but I’m guessing that Collyns and Kollins are attempts to make Collins appear more feminine. Collins is the first name of the pretty country singing starlet in last year’s Gwyneth Paltrow movie, Country Strong. I thought it was striking when I heard it, and have since seen it mentioned by younger members of naming message boards.
Well, I’m gonna guess:
“Fynn” was made popular by Glee. It’s for a male character, but does make for a pretty girl name too.
“Sookie” is a barmaid in True Blood, not a vampire. lol. :)
“Anberlyn” sounds like a mixture of the actress, Amber Tamblyn. Hmm.
[Note from Nancy: Changed that note about Sookie! Thanks.]
I have always been the only Daymi I have ever known of, so it’s cool to see my name on the list!
