The most popular baby names in New South Wales, Australia, were announced recently.
According to the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages, the winners were William for boys and Ruby for girls.

Update: I’ve revised this post with the finalized top 10! Isabella was kicked off the girls’ list by Ava, and Liam was kicked off the boys’ list by Ethan.
There may be about a dozen days left in the year, but that hasn’t stopped Queensland, Australia, from releasing its list of the most popular baby names of 2011:

Update: The final counts are in, and the top names are actually Sophie and Cooper, not Ruby and Cooper. Ruby was in second place, followed by Chloe, Isabella and Mia.
