The SS Laguardia left New York on May 30, 1950, for a month-long trip to the Mediterranean under the command of Capt. Hugh L. Switzer.
About a week before it returned to New York, Mrs. Gertrude Segelman of Spring Valley, NY, gave birth to a baby boy with the help of the ship’s surgeon, Dr. Roy Littlehale.
The baby was named Roy Hugh, after both the doctor and the captain.

What’s the best name-related television commercial of all time?
That would be the Emmy-nominated “Glen,” which advertised Starbucks DoubleShot cold espresso drinks during the summer of 2004.
Memorably, the commercial featured the band Survivor performing a song about a young man named Glen to the tune of their 1982 mega-hit “Eye of the Tiger” (which was the theme song of Rocky III).
Glen’s the man, going to work Got his tie, got ambition Middle management is right in his grasp It’s a dream he will never let die!
Glen’s the man of the hour He’s the king of his cube Status call* reports have finally met their rival Burnin’ the candle at both ends on his way to the top He knows one day he just could become… Supervisor!
[…]
Roy! Roy Roy Roy!…
(*Some sources say the word is “quo,” while others say “call.” To me, it sounds a lot more like “call.”)

The popular commercial did help boost the sales of DoubleShot drinks (which had been on the market since 2002), but, sadly, it had no discernible effect on the baby name Glen:
Please note that I did include names in the gray area between one syllable and two syllables. The deciding factor on these particular names (such as Charles, Miles, and Noel) will be your own interpretation/accent, so be sure to test the names out loud before making any final decisions.
Many of these names also happen to be unisex, so they appear on the one-syllable girl names list as well.
Looking for a set of baby names with something in common? If so, here are some 3-letter anagram names for you to check out!
Anagrams are words that contain the same set of letters, but not in the same sequence. For instance, the words “pot,” “opt,” and “top” are all anagrams of one another.
Anagram names can be a neat option for siblings — particularly multiples (like twins and triplets). They’re also a clever way to connect a baby name to the name of an older relative (e.g., grandpa Ole, grandson Leo).
Below are hundreds of three-letter names (collected from the SSA’s huge database of U.S. baby names) that happen to be anagrams of other names.
